To customers in the United States and Canada

To United States customers :

On 30 July 2025, the US Government issued an Executive Order entitled ‘Termination of De Minimis Duty Exemption for All Countries’ concerning mail addressed to the United States.

This Executive Order stipulates that mail containing goods imported for personal consumption (taxable mail) will no longer be exempt from duty after 29 August this year and will be subject to customs duties. On 15 August this year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (hereafter ‘CBP’) issued ‘New Guidelines Regarding the Elimination of De Minimis,’ stipulating that carriers and other entities must pay a customs bond to CBP and prepare customs declarations. However, the procedures required of carriers and the national postal operators responsible for handling these shipments remain unclear, making implementation extremely difficult.

For EMS shipments destined for the United States, we will temporarily suspend acceptance, in line with other national postal operators.

At present, parcels destined for the United States are predominantly dispatched via YAMATO TRANSPORT (UPS). Please note that upon receipt of such parcels, payment of customs duties and associated charges is required without exception.

To Canada customers :

The Canadian Postal Service labour union had been conducting partial strikes (including refusal to work overtime) since 23 May (local time). On 25 September (local time), the union escalated this action to an immediate full strike in protest against the Canadian government's announced postal service rationalisation plan. This information has been provided by the Canadian Postal Service.

Consequently, the dispatch of international mail from Japan to Canada has been suspended for the time being.
Whilst orders for goods remain possible, please be advised that delivery may be significantly delayed.
